Help setting up older Lional Train
« on: February 03, 2021, 04:38:12 pm »
Hi,

My wife and I are setting up our old Lional train sets for your Grandson's visit coming up soon.  We have gotten the basics down, with an oval track and two locomotives running just fine on it.

What we really need help with is the track splitters and connecting accessories to the track(s).  We have a handful of electrical connectors and a half dozen towers, crossing gates, etc. that I have no idea of how to correctly connect, or if we have the right connectors.

A primary question is the track switches.  They seem to operate just fine both ways with the controller, and they switch the track back and forth to divert the train off and on from tracks.  The problem is that the train only goes one direction - from the single track stem end.  If the locomotive approaches from the "split" end, it powers off and stops.  Then I have to move it down the track to get started again.

If there's anyone generous enough to help me work through these (I think) simple problems, I would greatly appreciate it.  I can supply photos of the parts as needed.

Thank you very much in advance,

Gene Lamber

Welcome to the forum!

A few things we need to know to help you:

What track are you using - '027' or '0' gauge track?

What switches are you using? Do they have the insulating pins in them?

What "connectors" do you have - they usually have numbers on them.

List the numbers of the accessories so we can get you wiring diagrams.
