Greetings from Iowa! I am in my mid 50's and am a Vietnam Era Vet, 101st ABN DIV. I have worked in the pipeine industry for the past 31 + years and hope to retire to my RR in about 4 years.

I have only been into Lionel Trains for the past 3 years and am hooked beyond description. I started my RR with purchasing the all of the FM Trainmasters from the late 70's to mid 80's, I also have some F-3's which include some from the 50's and the 80's. I also have some steam engines, its not hard to get hooked on them. My layout consists of Ross Track and switches and is a work in progress. I really prefer the older Lionel equipment. I look forward to seeing this forum grow!

Hello, Mike here, 39yrs old.  Got my start in model trains around 5yrs old watching grandpa run my fathers old Lionel set from the late 40's.  I got my own set, a Tyco HO set unfortunatly, for Christmas the following year.  I burnt up the motor in the locomotive the day I got it. Needless to say, grandpa talked to dad and for my birthday the following March I got a MPC era Midnight Flyer 027 train set.  When I was 12 I got to take possesion of dad's old set which I still operate to this very day.  I am in the process of building a small pre 1950 postwar Lionel layout in our spare room.  I fix trains of all scales for the local hobby shop and I have repaired trains for 2 different Lionel shops in the past, Harmon's Trains in Arcadia, IN, and Train City in Erie, PA.   Cheers   Mike and Michele T

Greetings to all.  My name is Tyler and I am 22 years old.  I started “playing” with Lionel Trains when I was 5 years old.  However, I started “collecting” in my mid-teens.  Lately, due to law school, I have not had much time to allocate to running and collecting Lionel Trains.  I am from rural Zebulon, NC, and I am fortunate to have a Lionel Authorized Value Dealer 10 minutes away from my home.  I look forward to answering questions and receiving answers to my own questions.

First I have to thank Neil (Young) for his interest in trains and  saving Lionel.
My Name is David, I've been playing with trains, since 1957 when I got my first
clockwork train.  In 1959 I received my first electric, a Sears/Marx 0-27 set.
Over the years I've dabbled with S & HO, currently doing Large Scale and N scale.
I am in the process of acquiring an older Lionel 0-27 set.  (A Blue Comet Freight set?)
I have one of the 0-6-0 Lionel Large Scale locomotive & the Lionel large scale Polar Express.
I'm a veteran, received the "Greetings from the President" letter in 69.
About to retire in a couple months and devote myself to seriously
playing with trains....

Hello train junkies!

I'm Eric and hail from God's country up a mile in the sky (Colorado). I have had a O-27 scale train in storage for 25 years and decided to get it out and test the engine recently. This action has opened up some good memories and a renewed intrest that has been lost for too long. My newly restored to service engine is a 2055 from the mid 50's which I just completed a restoration and general maintenance. Still runs great and pulls a 6 car passenger set with ease. I wanted to have this set on display instead of storage so I installed an elevated layout in my home office which I am learning to love and hate. Working out the bugs on a layout that is somewhat difficult to access. No room in the house for a "Train Room" yet however the kids will be out in a few years and I have plans for the extra space, if the better half will allow.   Recently purchased at an auction a Southern Pacific Daylight engine to add to a beginning collection of quality Lionel equipment. Love the new tech in the engines however I remain partial to the post war engines such as my 2055. Just want to show appreciation to the moderator and administrators of this forum, I can tell I will have found a good forum for information, answers and just good train talk from other enthusiasts.
