Lionel polar express smoke unit smells bad
« on: September 19, 2016, 03:30:46 pm »
I have a lionel polar express O-gauge train set.  The smoke produced from the smoke unit smells bad.  It isn't a burning smell, but it smells bad enough to the point where I just leave the smoke off.  I have tried a few different brands of scented smoke but they smell even worse than lionel's normal smoke.  Is this a defective smoke unit? Can I fix it or replace it?  Please reply!
Thanks

Hello & Welcome to the Forum!
Not everyone finds the eau d'loco enjoyable.
I am in that camp. I do not use smoke fluid for anything but cleaning wheels.
I don't believe that you have a faulty smoke unit, it is possible, but I suspect
that you'll have to try several brands of smoke fluid to find one that is acceptable to your nose
Yes, you could replace the smoke unit and try it again to see if the smell is acceptable.
Hope this is of some help...
Happy Rails!
