Weird Wheel found on prewar Lionel Lines No. 257
« on: March 25, 2020, 11:10:05 am »
Hello all!
I have just acquired my first Lionel trains and am working on building my set. One of the trains is a prewar Lionel Lines No. 257. While cleaning it up I noticed something unusual that I haven’t seen on any other example. The back right wheel is solid metal unlike the other three which have spokes. I will attach a picture to show. Is this normal or was the wheel replaced? Why would only this one be solid? Thank y’all for your time! I’m new to the forum so I hope this post is correct. Any insight y’all have would be great!

Hello & Welcome to thd Forum!
.It appears tfhat at some point the wheel(s) was/were replaced, probably due to zinc pest.
If you're happy running as is, no problem.
lf you want you want all the same wheels, Forum member Bill Hennings probably has replacement wheels in stock.  Hennings Trains...

Happy Rails!
