Hello & Welcome to the Forum.

It appears that you have a dead short somewhere.
Does the red light come on if the transformer is not hooked up to the track, when you power it up?
if you have a tester check to see if short is in transformer or elsewhere.
Possibly a bad piece of track, age gremlins got to the insulation on the rails or on wires,
just keep checking til you find the short.
