1121 switch finish
« on: May 02, 2023, 09:04:19 pm »
I’m new to the forum and just getting back into Lionels. I was recently given milk crate of older stuff that included a few 1121 switches in need of a total overhaul. They work but cosmetically look like junk. Does anyone know what the original base finish was? What can I buy that will get me closest to original finish?

Thanks

Steve

I'm not sure that I understand your post.

The switches work well, despite being old? A lot of railroaders would tell you to leave them alone.

Why do they look bad? Do they need to be polished? Are they chipped and/or rusty? Could you make one oval of track using all the old tracks? Or could you make a powered switchyard with them?

You have a lot of potential with those items, so be careful not to ruin them.
