General Lionel Model Train Discussion / Re: 14ft X 14ft track power?« Last post by djacobsen on July 11, 2024, 08:44:35 am »Hello.
Your power supply should be enough. You will probably want to add an extra feeder line or two so you have steady power around the loop. happy rails. dave 73
General Lionel Model Train Discussion / 14ft X 14ft track power?« Last post by TrainNoob182 on May 07, 2024, 12:43:14 am »Hi, another new guy here... Large track question.
I plan to install a train shelf that goes around the perimeter of the ceiling of a room. 14ft x 14ft. HO scale. I have little train knowledge. I do know how to measure and calculate Volts, Amps, Ohms, Watts, and how to use a multi-meter. Will a normal HO train set supply enough power for a loop this big? Or do I need to add another power supply? Thanks. 74

I plan to install a train shelf that goes around the perimeter of the ceiling of a room. 14ft x 14ft. HO scale with the smallest minimum curve of 18-20in would make creating the shelf the easiest. I have zero train knowledge. I do know how to measure and calculate Volts, Amps, Ohms, Watts, and how to use a multi-meter. Will a normal HO train set supply enough power for a loop this big? Or do I need moor...stuff? Thank you train Gods! (I have much to learn) 77
General Model Train Discussions / Re: E unit for Lionel 1668« Last post by kars2026at10 on April 16, 2024, 06:26:52 pm » I was told I could put a 100-25 into my 1668. The same E-Unit as a 2026. I have never found documentation to verify this. When I get an extra 100-25, I'm going to try to put in my 1668.

Power & Control / TROUBLE SHOOTING A LIONEL RW TRANSFORMER« Last post by kars2026at10 on April 15, 2024, 11:26:45 pm »I’m having a problem with my RW transformer. There is no power to the variable terminal posts (A & B). The fixed terminal posts register their specified current on my volt meter. When the whistle control button is depressed both variable terminal post (A&B) register the required electrical current. This is while the transformer is plugged into the wall power.
The circuit breaker tested good on both terminal posts (A & B). The wire connected to the voltage control lever/arm and the terminal post “A & B” register continuity. So that’s good. The slider contacts on the whistle control assembly had just been cleaned and appear to be working correctly. I’m stumped! Does anybody have any suggestions to the problem or a fix? 79

General Lionel Model Train Discussion / Lionel 0288 Coaling Station« Last post by Tom on March 15, 2024, 10:10:23 pm »I’m thinking of purchasing one of these pre-owned. Does anyone know if the space under the side of the building where the hopper cars would “load” is wide enough to accommodate Fastrack ?
