**WANTED: Lionel \#11740 Rock Island Freight Set — 1969 Postwar**
I’m looking to purchase an original **Lionel \#11740 Rock Island Freight Set from 1969**, featuring the **\#2041 Rock Island Alco AA diesel units**\.
I am looking for the **original postwar set**, **not** the later Conrail set that reused the \#11740 number\.
Prefer:
- Complete set - Excellent to mint condition - Original individual boxes - Original set box, if available
I will also consider a nice complete set without all of the boxes\.
If you have one you would consider selling, please send me **photos, a description of the condition, what boxes are included, and your asking price**\.
I’m a serious buyer and willing to pay a fair collector price for the right set\.
Thank you\!

I have a light brown plastic fake lumber stack that has a circuit board inside and has a on off switch on the bottom and another switch that has 3-4 on it. There is a jack on the one end. Was wondering if anyone knows what this Lionel product is. There are no model numbers on it. It is about 3.5 inches by 6 inches long and 1.5 inches tall. Thanks

Hello everyone!
I new here. Looking to pick up my first Lionel Steam Locomotive. As usual I am late to the party, My favorite train to model is the SP daylight GS4 and Diesel F3's. Of course the 2020 VisionLine is sold out and I can't fine any on Ebay.
Any chance anyone knows where I can buy the 2020 VisionLine SP GS4?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Bill

Forgot to mention Using a MRC pure Dual power a/c transformer as the fixed power source if that matters...

Greeting all! Longtime lurker, first time poster. Bought a LionChief Disney 50th anniversary set new in 2023 whilst in the park. Was going to just leave in the box, but my youngest daughter convinced me to run it for her. Anyway, literally new out of box....and while it runs, I get no smoke or sound even with the switches on. Contacted Lionel, they told me I'm SOL since it was covered for 1 year from purchase, which past whilst it was quietly sitting in the box . I own quite a mix of prewar, post war and modern stock, and I've had to fix repair alot. So I'm not shy about taking things apart. So I did! Checked the wiring at the couplers, nothing is broken or disconnected. Speaker is good test with known good sound source and it works fine. nothing broken or disconnected under shell. What the heck could it be?? Any ideas? I Appreciate any input..

CW-80 would work indeed. It has a separate programmable 0-18 volt output for accessories. Later on you can always add another Transformer to the layout as you expand or go bigger like a ZW and make the CW-80 the secondary. All kinds of possibilities. Be sure to get an instruction/setup manual for whatever you buy.

Thank you for the reply! We’ve had a lot of fun so far.
That makes sense. I wasn’t sure if I should call it a controller or transformer since it had a separate transformer that plugs into it.
I’ve seen a few transformers pop up on marketplace for reasonable prices. Mainly CW-80’s. That would probably work for a starter layout from what I’ve researched.

Hi Greg Glad your son has taken up the hobby. It's how my dad started me off with my first set in 1958. By "Controller" I assume you mean Transformer? For right now the cheapest and easiest way is, If he is going to stay with the hobby, then pick up another transformer that has multiple output(s). Lionel makes many. What usually is done is, as the layout becomes larger or permanent, you either upgrade to a multiple source transformer like the ZW (Which has 4 outputs) or one of the others that has multiple outputs. Most folks will put their accessories on a separate source, Another output is used for constant voltage Power for your switches and yet another 1 or 2 outputs for train control depending on how many isolated track systems you have. I have more than one transformer running and I won't get into that right now. It takes a little bit to correctly set that up. Lionel has videos on all of this you can watch. Claude
