Wiring a layout
« on: May 27, 2017, 07:30:33 pm »
Hi everyone I am new to this thread and had a general question about wiring a layout.  I have all gauges from n to G and I am currently rewiring my layouts using bus wire and feeders now my question is since I have two transformers on each of my layout and would like to keep them all due to collecting. I used to have them wired to the track by themselves and now that I have done the bus wiring with feeders to one of the transformers which worked well but my question is how do you connect the second transformer to use when I want to to the current bus wire with feeders without running another pair of bus and feeders?  Is that at all possible?  I will not use both transformers at once just one or the other at A time. I don't have accessories that are powered on my layouts since I have no room just track and trains so any help would be appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!

Use the KISS method and just switch the wires over when you want to use the other transformer.
Or
since the transformers will not be powered up at the same time, you should be able to connect
to the same point on the buss your other transformer is connected to.

I am hoping one of the "experts" will speak up now and tell you how wire your system "correctly".

Happy Rails.
Dave
