The New LionChief Train Sets
« on: January 17, 2014, 05:32:57 pm »
Just wanted to let Lionel corporate know that you people nailed it big time with these new remote controlled engines.

It brought me back into 3rail.  Although I must admit I am not running my new Scout set on  your FasTrack, however this has got to be Lionel's greatest innovation yet.
And you know why, because it's affordable and it works amazingly well.

And the trains are just as well built.
One of the real beauties is that the remote works by frequency and not infrared.  I don't have to find the receiver and point the remote at it.  I can be anywhere even out of site and fire the train up.

And the sounds are awesome as well, and I have never had a non fan driven steam engine smoke this good.  Just the right amount, not over powering but yet very visible and realistic.

Can you tell yet that this 57 year old is one happy camper.

I left N-scale, because deep down I'm not a 'model railroader',  I don't want to model anything, I just want a train big enough to be seen good from a floor layout and make some sounds.  And watch it run, along with the neat accessories I can get if I want.
I fought that battle within myself for quite awhile, and I could never get away from thinking of getting back into 3rail, and I'm 100% sure now I will never leave it.

Good job Lionel, you remembered your roots of all about having fun.
