O Gauge Polar Express Problem (Please Help!)
« on: November 17, 2015, 12:25:20 pm »
Hi! Today my family brought out our O Gauge Polar Express set, but we're having a slight problem with it- it won't move. It'll light up, and if you keep the speed on, smoke will come out of the chimney, but it won't move, except in sporadic moments out of no where. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Welcome to the forum.

Make sure that the track, and the wheels and pickup rollers on the locomotive are clean and free from dirt and oil. Clean everything with a ScotchBrite pad, and wipe everything down with naphtha to clean up any residue.

Locate the switch for the reverse function, and slide it back and forth a few times to insure good contact.

If all this does not work, there is an internal problem with the locomotive.

What is the exact set number you have? There are many Polar Express sets, many with different locomotives.

Thanks! I cleaned the train up (and track), and it's running great! Thanks, again :)

It is good to hear that a little cleaning solved your problem, and that you do not have a more serious problem.

Enjoy your trains!
