Leading Wheels Work--Unfortunately
« on: April 16, 2021, 10:05:12 am »
Tragedy has struck, but at least I learned something.

A visiting cat knocked over a Berkshire (2-8-4) locomotive, destroying the two front wheels. On a real steam locomotive, these wheels drag the locomotive around curves.

When all else failed (I even took it to an auto mechanic) I pulled off the two front wheels. As soon as it hit a curve, it went straight ahead.

It runs great backwards, though.

Vince
Sorry to hear about your accie\dent.
Is the carriage broken or is it the wheels/axle the problem?
IF the carriage is the problem, you might be able to fashion one out of a tin can with a pair tin snips & a drill..
Just use the original one for a pattern and try to recreate it
Happy Rails....
