6-18009 NYC Mohawk 3000

Hi, I just purchased a used Lionel 6-18009 that runs well but the E UNIT makes a hell of a noise  even when running around the track. Is it still possible to get another e unit for this engine and if so are they hard to replace. Other than the noise the engine is great.

The part number is 6(00)-8306-300 and is available here.

It is held in place with one screw, and there are 4 wires to solder.
