New trains on "old" track...
« on: July 03, 2015, 01:12:30 am »
Hello there. I'm kinda an "old" newbie. I had many hours of fun as a kid with my trains. I have recently unboxed my old trains (many of which were my dad's and grandfather's) for my son. I have begun building a set-up and I'm looking to expand.

My first question for the forum is, can I run "new" trains on my "old" O and O-27 gage track and with my old transformers? Or do I need to buy the new style track and transformers? I have miles of old track, and prefer to use it instead of buying new.

Regards,

Lou

Yes you can and depends on your transformer if its small and if you are using a lionel zw that you put a inline fuse on the hot side and also if you get scale engines and cars they won't run on 027 turns you would have to get O31 or O42  or wider.
