Where does this wire go?
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:15:28 pm »
The picture is a chassis of a Sante Fe F3 engine No. 200.  Engine color is blue with yellow on the nose and cabin top.

Oh boy, if I would have only took a picture!  I've got two wires (or more) which I don't know where they go.  I hope the picture goes through so you can see the screw terminal lug near the back motor in the picture.  The lug has two black wires going to it.  One of these wires goes to the motor mount screw to one motor and the other one to the other motor mount screw but where does the screw termnal lug go to?
The other two wire(s) are yellow (just twisted together for no reason), one comes from the truck pickup and the other one goes to the E-unit (reverse relay).  There is a bundle of yellow wires (three to be exact) with a wire nut on them but it doesn't have enough slack in it to reach the one pickup yellow wire.  When I was putting everything back together these two yellow wires and the screw lug with the two black wires were the only wires that were lose.  Can you tell me where these wires go?

The black wire with the spade lug goes to chassis ground under a screw, most likely the screw that holds the e-unit in place. Your picture is unclear about the yellow wires, but if your loco has 2 roller pickups, and the wires are yellow coming from both of them, then all the yellow wires should be connected together with the wire nut. Here is a schematic http://pictures.olsenstoy.com/cd/locos%5Cloc2300a.pdf of a similar postwar loco; just ignore the horn, battery and relay.

Thank you TrainLarry.  That got me thinking outside the box and with a few rearranging of wires, they got to be long enough to connect.
