Hey all,
I just picked up an American Flyer 401 engine from an auction. I paid $11 for it. It needs a front wheel truck. Does anyone know where I can Find parts.

I also got a 2037 for $18 with tender.

I'm having a great time with my kid, ( and bu myself) with this old 2018 we repaired. But it seems it goes to fast for my track layout at full throttle and rolls off. It's just around my Christmas tree on 027 track. The layout is 3 straight 2 curve and 1 stright creating an oval. Is that normal? I'm using a 1033 transformer.

Hey all,
I'm looking for some Pullman Passenger cars with an observation car. Condition is not that important if there are good condition I'll leave him alone if they're not so good condition I'll just repaint them anyway. If anybody has any that they're looking to sell that would be awesome even if I have to put them together one car at a time. I can't afford to spend a whole bunch of money at one shot so if I have to buy one car at a time I will but I like three of them thanks for your help appreciate it.

The loco does work, by itself. The wistle tender works, by itself and when pulled with my 1060 loco. I just cleaned the e-unit. I have a new one on order. Both the 2018 and wistle unit work. Just not together. And the 2018 changes direction when I cycle the power with out issue.

It sounds like the wistle tender is buzzing. And the 2018 will not move. I had cleaned and lubed everything like you said. Maybe I have it wired up wrong? Or do I need a different track connector? Is there a wiring diagram somewhere?

Thanks for the info I do appreciate it. It looks like this 2018 is going to be quite a rebuild I put it on track and it started the home and tried to move forward and back but I could tell that they e unit lever is very loose. I already took the chassis off and I'm looking inside of it and the wiring is actually very old so I'm assuming it's probably the original wiring. I've seen where guy say to replace it, but I'm thinking if I can unsolder the connections and not break the wires I would just reuse the original wiring seeing how it's already kind of formed itself to the layout of that engine. I'll keep you all posted with pictures of the rebuild of the 2018 and if you see anything that you recommend that I should do please feel free to comment thank you very much.

General Lionel Model Train Discussion / Type of smoke generator?
« on: November 22, 2017, 05:08:16 pm »
How can I tell if my Lionel train has a pellet or a fluid type smoke generator? I have a 1954 2018 I just took it apart and the smoke generator has a lot of white residue in it. So what kind of smoke generator would it be and is there a way to clean it out I looked on the forearms and a lot of guys have different ways of doing it but I wanted to ask and see if anybody here has a tried-and-true tested way of cleaning them out thanks for any information you can give me have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey all,
Heres my question. My son was given a 1060 lionel. I beleive from the early 60's. It currently has a 1026 controller.

I just recently purchased a 2018 264 off eBay. I believe that one's from the early 50s. I also just got hold of a whistle tender that was appropriate model for that year.

I need some help to figure out what  controller I should use with the 2018 and whistle tender on the current track I have. There's so many out there it's very confusing for the post-war controllers could somebody please help me thank you.
