O Scale / Re: Track for Christmas Layout

 http://www.lioneltrainforum.com/general-discussion/please-share-your-christmas-holiday-layouts-on-the-forum!/

I have taken 3/4 inch plywood and cut it out in an 054 circle, added homosote to the top and track on op of this it breaks down into 4 pcs. and provides a very stable platform. I would not know why it would not work for a figure eight.

The pre war stuff is so colorful and nice pieces are plentiful and reasonably price.

0-6-0 227, this is the smoothest locomotive I have and it really pulls the cars.

Beginning to become a real fan of steam on my layout.

No vote as I am addicted to both, as a kid I used to watch the C&NW passenger trains idle on the tracks across from my Grandmas house. Too young to have seen the real steam engines but I have a bunch of them on my layout, mostly pre-war.

My Pre-War equipment does not like my Ross track and switches so I put together a traditional Lionel tubular track and switch layout which incorporates some Post-War goodies too. Its a start.

General Lionel Model Train Discussion / Introductions
« on: April 17, 2012, 08:17:24 pm »
Greetings from Iowa! I am in my mid 50's and am a Vietnam Era Vet, 101st ABN DIV. I have worked in the pipeine industry for the past 31 + years and hope to retire to my RR in about 4 years.

I have only been into Lionel Trains for the past 3 years and am hooked beyond description. I started my RR with purchasing the all of the FM Trainmasters from the late 70's to mid 80's, I also have some F-3's which include some from the 50's and the 80's. I also have some steam engines, its not hard to get hooked on them. My layout consists of Ross Track and switches and is a work in progress. I really prefer the older Lionel equipment. I look forward to seeing this forum grow!
