I have a Lionel an 8690 Trolley, it was running great up to a couple of weeks ago. The trolley started to stop suddenly in one direction. It appears there is a bind in the wheels. I cleaned and serviced the motor, checked for bent axels, put new brushes in and lubricated it as per manual. It still stops in one direction but runs great in the other. The wheels still lock up as though there is bind in the motor, axels or gears, but I cannot find anything out of alignment. Does anybody have any suggestion?

I was told I could put a 100-25 into my 1668. The same E-Unit as a 2026. I have never found documentation to verify this. When I get an extra 100-25, I'm going to try to put in my 1668.

I’m having a problem with my RW transformer. There is no power to the variable terminal posts (A & B). The fixed terminal posts register their specified current on my volt meter. When the whistle control button is depressed both variable terminal post (A&B) register the required electrical current. This is while the transformer is plugged into the wall power. The circuit breaker tested good on both terminal posts (A & B). The wire connected to the voltage control lever/arm and the terminal post “A & B” register continuity. So that’s good. The slider contacts on the whistle control assembly had just been cleaned and appear to be working correctly. I’m stumped! Does anybody have any suggestions to the problem or a fix?

Try adding cars to the faster loco. That will slow it down.

I will be reconditioning some old rusty O gauge track. When the track in soaked in vinegar the rust is dissolved along with the black paint on the track ties. The ties are bare metal subject to rust and just don't look right. Does anyone have a method to repaint the track ties? If I use spray paint, the paint would get on the track which I don't want. I thought about putting paint in a shallow flat cookie sheet and dipping the track tie in the paint, then touching up the top of the tie with a small flat artist brush. Any other ideas would be appreciated!

I recently acquired a 1947 Lionel “R” Type 110 watt transformer. While checking it out, I found all terminals function correctly, except the variable A – C terminals. All the internal wires are connected and I can find no broken or disconnected wires. I have cleaned the contact area on the coil and the contact arms. The contact arms are making good contact with the contact area on the coil. The other 3 variable (A – F, B – C, B –F) terminals are working correctly. Does anyone have any ideas why the variable terminals (A – C) are not working?

Does anybody have or know where I can get an exploded view of an "R" transformer with the part names and part numbers. Greenberg's only gives me a wiring diagram and no part numbers. Thanks and Merry Christmas to All

I am renovating my 364 lumber loader. While disassembling the gear housing the "Rear Thrust Washer" fell out. I did not see where it came from and I am not sure where it belongs. Does anybody know where this part goes? I have not been able to locate an exploded view to determine the assembly.

You should be able to get a Lionel 2026 on e-bay at a reasonable price. I have three plus a 2036 and a prewar 1668. I have to keep them clean inside and out to run great, so maintenance is regular. You can run almost anything on 027 that has 6 drivers. If you get 8 drivers you need "O" If you are going to have a lot of trains you should get "Greenberg's Repair and Operating Manual. It has helped me a LOT!

Thanks, Vince I have both of those. I'm looking for something from the Lionel service manual.

I recently purchased a postwar 364 lumber loader. Can I get a copy of the service manual showing an exploded view with part numbers from the Lionel Library? And How?

I like steam, there is just more action with a steam loco.

My layout is 027 tubular, but O gage can have the same problems. Sometimes the track just will not match up and you may have to cut a up a track and make a "special" piece of track to make thing fit right and close a gap. You can use SCARM to make a a dog bone layout. HAVE FUN!

I run 3 trains and an elevated trolley on a 5X10 layout. It's what ever you want to do.
