Hello & Welcome to the Forum

Only recomendation I can make is
Clean the track and make sure the pins are clean and tight.

When you are trying to solder are you using flux?
If not, that is possibly why it is not sticking.
Also you should rough up the spot where you are trying to solder with a piece of sand paper,
it will create a better surface for the solder to cling to.

Hope this helps.

Happy Rails!
Dave
Thanks for the advice Dave. I will definitely give it a try

Layout Design Forum / Conductivity of fastrack

I seem to have problems with conductivity in fastrack.  From one time of running the train to the next your not sure if it's going to run.  If you slightly twist the track power goes off and on.  I was told to try soldering leads to the track but solder to fastrack rails doesn't seem to stick.  Any advise on conductivity fixes and or soldering ?

Layout Design Forum / Lion chief plus derails at 036 switch

Any suggestions on why back truck wants to go straight instead of go around o36 curve.  Bought a few lion chief pluses and happens with both of them.  Regular steam locomotives work fine.

I just bought two lion chief plus diesels.  One Santa Fe and one Union Pacific GP.  Love the trains but am so frustrated as each time they go into a fast track 036 curve the front truck goes into the curve fine while back truck wants to go straight and details. Lionel says not heard of this problem.  Sent a smitch to them and sent it back and told me to grind the frog?  Switch is a few months old and not sure why I would do this.  Anybody have this problem?  Thanks for the help
