Beginners Q & A / Re: Scout vs Penn Flyer O Gauge for my 5 year old
« on: November 28, 2014, 01:59:51 am »
AGAIN THANK YOU!  So both of these are from Amazon The Pennsylvania remote is item number 630233 for $192.99 and The Scout transformer set is item #630127 for $164.22.  Yes now I see they come in both but those two are the two I'm looking at.  We went to a train show here in Milwaukee not long ago and We saw the remote ones I guess just being used to my transformer from the 70's I didn't like it.  But now I am thinking the remote might be a nice thing or my daughter who is only 5. Just not sure which route to go. So new train safe with my transformer but my train must run on the older transformer?

Thank You AGAIN!

Thanks Larry,

I noticed looking at the Penn Flyer it says Remote... So guessing that's an actual Remote VS a wired transformer like I am used to.  So would the train be ale to run on my old Traditional Track??? And Would my old train be able to run on her Fast Track??? Thanks Again!!!!!

I want to get my 5 year old a "starter set" for Christmas. Is there any operational or mechanial difference between the Scout and Penn Flyer?  Does the Penn flyer have any features that make it cost a little more???  I still have my Lionel Alleghany set from the 70's and she loves it...Time to get her own.  Are there any online train stores that will have black Friday or cyber Monday sales??? Thanks for the time, I'm sure you guys get tired of the which set should I get kid questions.
