General Lionel Model Train Discussion / Re: Christmas Trains« on: July 01, 2023, 06:14:57 am »
POPS, I have a unique situation. My son-in-law and I converted a huge lower level 2 1/2 car garage into a Mother-in-law suite for the wife and I. Now here is my problem, I have no where to set up a display. Therefore I must take my Christmas train apart and put it in storage...Whew! that is really difficult because I also have no storage space. I need some ideas. Thought about doing a break apart system.....don't know what they are called, but again, no place to store the modules. Help !

Power & Control / KW Transformer« on: December 25, 2022, 11:03:11 am »
Merry Christmas.
I found a KW Transformer that was reasonable priced, and didn't break the bank. It was located up in Canada, they sent pictures and a statement by a company stating this transformer functions as intended. They shipped it to me to arrive before Christmas....that way I would have a chance to incorperate it into my Christmas Tree Layout. Problem, one of the control arms (the orange button), on the top of the arm is missing....anyone have any idea Where I might pick up this part. I know it is only a cosmetic fix, but I want it to look nice....Thanks in advance, and have a Happy New Year. 5

If you are sure, liquid smoke will not hurt my unit I will use that. I have always heard not to use liquid smoke it would burn up my coils and burn out the smoke generator.

Power & Control / Re: Help with purchasing a transformer« on: August 16, 2022, 10:13:12 am »
Morning Train Larry, well, here it is August, and I have done nothing to get my tired/old post war Hudson up and running. Looking for several things...new parts for the ole girl, trucks and couplers, power packs, a small under the tree track design that can be taken down and stored. As I said in an earlier post (space is of the essence). I have 6ft. X 6ft. and only 3ft. area to play with. The track would set in a corner, with an elevated area for the tree to sit on and my HO scale trolley to run. The main line would run thru a mountain (the elevated platform for the tree), and circle back on itself. GRAND DREAMS, little money, but anxious for Grandkids and Great Grandkids and Myself to experience the thrill of Model Trains....IAM GOING TO NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN MUSTER.
Thanks in advance..Bill aka "Dead Head To Georgia" 9

Larry, like the other rail fan needing a transformer, my question is I also have an HO trolley that runs on an out and back track. Figured it would be neat if I could incorperate it into my Christmas tree display. Or will I have to use the "toy" power pack that came with it.
