G Scale / Inherited a Lionel train set.
« on: October 05, 2020, 10:09:59 am »
Hello, my name is John. I have inherited a train set with a lot of pieces. Let’s just say I know nothing about model train sets. As a reference, I would need to learn how to put it together properly down to the track layout. Based on that I need help figuring out what I have. Not looking to sell as it was supposed to be given to me by my grandpa and for the better part of my life I thought it had been stolen. I recently found out that it has been stored in a basement corner untouched for 40 years or so. There are a lot of parts and pieces. From what I have seen the engines and cars appear to be in decent condition. There are a lot of “plastic-ville” houses that became a home for mice at some point and I am still trying to organize them to see if I have any that are not chewed or disgusting. They were in a separate box from the metal trains and track. It looks like they were oiled before packed. But again I just don’t know enough to give any solid answers. I know he pieced it together over many years and I have had it for a day.
If there is anyone out there willing to spend some time with me to help get this organized and figure out what I need to get it working properly I would be very grateful.
Thank you
