The cw-80 is being replaced this year. Do yourself a favor and get a Gw-180. It’s all you’ll ever need to run a couple of locomotives at one time with enough juice to power an entire layout.

I did as you suggested. It seems that the wheels are too close together. The set through the switch pushes the switch a little and then the second truck rolls over the rail and off the track.

There is a straight before one of the switches. The switch seems to be physically pushed by the wheels of the locomotive. No other locomotive had an issue with any of the switches. The locomotive seems to run smoothly through the switches that follow the curve of the track.

All the track and switches are brand new right out the box Lionel FasTrack. This is a completely new layout.

Thanks for the reply. Here’s the thing...if I physically turn the train around on the track so the rear truck is first through the switch, the results are the same. The second truck will not go through the switch. The first truck regardless if it is the rear or front slides through the following truck will not. I have tried this locomotive on multiple switches and this always happens. No other locomotive has an issue with the switches so I have concluded it’s something with the locomotive.

I have a brand new, just out of the box, rectifier locomotive. Regardless of load or speed or direction, the second truck that goes the turnout jumps the track. This is with any radius turnout. The first truck makes the second truck doesn’t. It’s almost as if the first truck pushes the switch back to straight causing the second truck to head in a different direction. I run every other locomotive I have through the switches without issue. This occurs with any switch. Any thoughts as to the cause of this?

Thanks. After a tear down, the front motor is not running, but does not appear to be toasted. Is this common in the off the shelf LionChief product? Seems so.
If you have the skill and a voltmeter check to see if that motor is getting any power. It is less likely that a can motor failure is the issue than a bad circuit board. If it’s new it should be covered under warranty. That doesn’t help you immediately however. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm brand new to Lionel O gauge so please excuse the terminology if I'm using it wrong. I bought an off the shelf LionChief set, some extra track and a few switches and set up in the basement. Everything ran fine for two weeks. Today, I plugged in the power and the locomotive began running at high speed without the remote on. The locomotive wouldn't move though, the traction wheels just spun in place. I unplugged, waited a few minutes and tried again. Same thing. I don't see anything visible that would cause this, track is clean, power is clean, no shorts etc. Help!!!
I think the control board in the locomotive has failed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have the GP-9 2380 NYC. It didn’t come with electrocouplers. I found an up grade kit that adds electrocouplers to a GP-9 dummy as shown in photo. Is there a way to put these electrocouplerson my GP-9? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
