Title: Fastrack switch problem
Post by: Flynhi on December 30, 2017, 08:21:17 pm
Santa brought my grandsons a Polar Express set last  which was great. This year Santa brought some accessories, more track and a pair of new remote control 036 Fastrack switches. We expanded the layout loop to 4x8 and added the switches for a smaller interior loop. The track has plenty of power - a CW80 transformer with two power connections on opposite sides of the loop. One power connections is only one 10” straight track away from the balky switch. My grandsons were having a great time until the left hand switch stopped responding to the remote lever control.
The switch has power- the lights are on at both lever control and small directional warning light on the switch. The three connections from the switch to adjacent track are good as confirmed with voltmeter. The powered track portions on the switch itself are powered as confirmed with voltmeter. I can feel the micro switches inside the remote lever control make contact.
This switch worked as advertised for 20 minutes then stopped working.

Do I have a setup or connection issue or do I have a failed switch?

Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Will

Since the switch was operating properly for awhile, then the setup and connections were good.

It sounds like you have a switch that went bad.
