Title: New Member and long time Lionel collector, Identification help
Post by: Smoke Pellets on November 03, 2015, 02:55:39 pm
Hello All,

Just joined the forum and looking forward to seeing what has been posted.  Been a member of a Chevrolet forum for years and enjoy it, so hope the same for this one.

Question, last weekend at a vintage car sale (Model T's) I found a lot of Lionel items and bought them all.  In the collection of items I found a set of what I think are Madison passenger cars.  They are numbers 2625, 2627 & 2628 (if I remember right, I'm at work)  From reading on the internet these cars would have been number 2625 only up to about 46 and starting in 47 they had number as listed above.  Without silhouettes in them, starting in 1950 they had silhouettes.  Any way my question is on color, from what I have read they are all to be a brown (Tuscan) color.  The ones which I have have different number on the cars without the silhouettes which makes them 47 to 49, but mine are a dark green or almost black color.  Does anyone know what I have?  If they have been repainted or something they really look nice as I can not see any evidence of the color being changed.  Also the lettering on the car looks to be original.

Thank you,
Bruce
