First of all, thank you for your help. The hopper is definitely blue however.

tsullivan,
here's what I could find on 6476 hoppers.
You'll have to follow the link:

There is always the possibility that what you are calling Blue is actually
a 6476 Grey Unmarked Hopper, that had been repainted by a previous owner.

Then again, it's always possible that you do have an uncatalogued
hopper that was made as an in house experiment and not made for sale.

Yes I am aware of that. My point was that it is actually a blue body and is only heat stamped on one side. That is what surprised me about it. Thank you for your reply.

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post.  I have had in my collection for the last 30 years a Lionel hopper which I believe may be quite rare.  I have taken this hopper to many train shows and have had many dealers look at and examine it, yet none of them seem to be able to shed any light on it for me.  It is a 6476 hopper which seems pretty basic, until you look closer.....The hopper is painted Tuscan red, is only heat stamped on one side, and is actually a blue bodied car.  Can anyone help me with this?  I can post pics if that would help.
