The service manual is here, pages 255-256 (9-5 and 9-6 at bottom of page).

Thank you Larry, that is helpful. Is there a book and or service manul that walks you through the service or gives recommendations on the proper cleaning and lubrication. Also I have a bad coupler on the front of my Erie 9307 cop and hobo gondola, keeps coming loose while going around the track it opens up possibly from the vibration of the car ,any ideas as whether the couple is just a standard coupler or unique to this car. And 3rd, where can I buy the coupler or the whole truck assembly??

For now I cut a little sliver of a magnet to hold the coupler handle up and tighter, may have to take it to Kirkland Trains in Kirkland Wa. near my location.

Hello & Welcome to the Forum.

My only suggestion is to drop forum member Sam Mamish a message.
He s my go to, all scale's, train guy in the Seattle/Puget Sound area.
Hopefully he can help you.

Happy Rails!

Any dirt or grease can be cleaned off with Naphtha, available at a hardware or paint store. Scrape off any dirt on the wheels with an X-Acto knife or the blade of a screwdriver, then finish cleaning the wheels with Q-Tips dipped in the Naphtha. A drop of oil on the axles where they enter the wheels will allow better rolling.

The coupler opening is caused by a weak spring 480-38

You'll need the rivet to hold the spring in place, #2343-66

Replacing these parts will keep the coupler from opening in use.
