Mervyn's "Bring Home the Holidays" Ready-to-Run Train Set?
« on: December 01, 2015, 10:29:44 pm »
Hi All! So I joined this group seeking answers. I hope im posting in the right place. So today on Craigslist I found a listing for a Lionel Set for only $50. I thought that was strange so i went to take a look. what I found was a perfect unopened set that was cobranded with the Mervyns name. The seller had no clue what "Lionel" was, so was selling the set cheap. I bought it. and now cannot find ANYTHING about the set online. All i know is that it supposedly was only one of 300 sets made, and is worth alot more than 50 bucks.

Now my question to you all is: What did I just buy, and how much is it worth?!?

Thank you,

JR

Hello & Welcome to the Forum.

Your Mervyn's/Lionel set was produced for the 2003 holiday season.

Value?
Right now $50.00, since that was what you paid for it.
But...
You can look at on-line auction's and see what the set has sold for if one has sold in the past, NOT the asking price.
You can look up the current value of the individual selling prices for the pieces that make up the set.

As far as "COLLECTOR" value, my only suggestion would be to put it up for auction with a $50.00 reserve and see what the public is willing to pay.

Happy Rails!
Dave
