Product Review: Lionel Large Gauge Construction Train
« on: April 15, 2022, 08:37:24 pm »
Like every other large gauge remote-controlled Lionel train I've bought, this one ran well straight out of the box. I was surprised to learn that the crane is battery-powered, so I have to wait while my charger readies two batteries for it.

But the train runs well and is the first train on my newest lay-out.

The Lionel Construction Train continues to run well, but the crane is a disappointment. The batteries make the red light on top  flash, and do nothing else.

The hook and chain are permanently attached to the boom and cannot be moved. The boom is raised and lowered manually (no turning wheel) and the entire structure is rotated manually.

Still, it is a low-priced, sharp-looking train, and it is well worth what I paid for it.
