Hello all!! I just purchased my first Lionel train-set, Pennsylvania Flyer (Lioncheif), set it up last night and must say it is a blast to watch it go.
One question i have is would it be possible to add lighting to the interior of the caboose and if so how and what would i need to buy to make this happen.
Another question i have is that the light on the rear of the tender does not light up so pretty much for decoration i guess. Would it be possible to add a light to this as well and if so how and what would i need purchase.
Thank you for the help.

Hello & Welcome to the Forum!
Your Pennsy Flyer is a good starter set.
Your caboose can be retrofitted for illumination by adding a power pickup truck w/3rd rail roller and light set for an illuminated caboose.
Parts can be ordered from Lionel.
Alternately,
you could purchase an inexpensive LED battery powered string of lights or light poles from your local big box store Christmas supply section, put them in the caboose, turn 'em on & play with your train.
Lastly,
you could purchase an illuminated Pennsy Caboose & list your extra caboose in the Trains Classified sub-forum here.
Me, I'd do the LED trick...
Happy Rails!

Hey! I just got the same set. I’d like to do the power pick up. I’ve gone to the parts page and I can’t seem to search correctly. Please help. Thanks
The 482-3 Baseplate with Roller

http://www.ttender.com/can be added to one of the caboose trucks and the roller wired to the bulb contact of a socket and bulb assembly. The metal socket would need to be wired to the metal baseplate itself to provide a return path for the power to the outside rails via the axles and wheels.
