New to lionel o gage, in need of a little help
« on: November 10, 2024, 05:06:27 pm »
So I recently decided to try out O scale for my newest layout ,( all previous layouts have been HO scale) I'm using all lionel post war track and accessories.  I'm having problems with where I should put the insulator pins on my turnouts.  I have about 12 turnouts on the entire layout and can't find any YouTube videos that address the exact issue in facing.  I have a couple spots on the layout where I hav two turnouts back to back facing opposite directions and im not sure where to put the pins on the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The insulators are to keep the integrity of the non-derailing feature of the switch. I will try to describe where they go to  you.  Basically the insulation pins (2 of them total) go into the two shortest rails on the switch. These rails lead to the Frog. The path of the two rails toward the frog form a small v shape. You can research it online and find lots of diagrams showing exactly where they go.
