Flashing Green Light on CW-80 & PowerMax Transformer
« on: December 18, 2016, 08:07:54 pm »
Hello All,

New member and first post to the forums.  I'm a novice, so please bear with me on my most likely early to resolve issue.  I have the above flashing green light issue and can't figure out what the issue is.  The train worked last Christmas but hasn't been run in a year.  When either of the transformers are hooked up to the track I get the flashing green light when ever I try and apply any throttle.  When I disconnect the spade connectors from the back of the transformers and apply throttle the light stays green/does not blink.

Thank you all in advance,
Todd

It sounds like you have a short circuit somewhere. Remove all trains from the track and try the power again. If the short still exists, physically divide your layout into 2 sections. Apply power to each section, and see which section the short occurs in. When you find it, divide that section of track in two, and check both sections for the short. Continue dividing the track into smaller sections until you find the short.

Look for Christmas tree tinsel across the rails, or a bad fishpaper insulator where the rails are crimped to the ties.

Thank you for the feedback Larry.  I was troubleshooting today and I think that I've isolated it to a bad cable or piece of track.  We got the train up and working today so my son is very happy as am I.  Now off to plan out a new track layout to have some fun with.

Thanks again!
Todd
