#990 Legacy Control System

Hi All.  I just arrived at your forum.  I'm one of those that had a Lionel set back in the 50s and decided to start putting it back together. 

I just bought a #990 Legacy control System and have a question.  I have a Lionel 4-6-2 which is Command and Rail-sounds Ready.  Apparently that means I can buy the upgrade chips and install them in the engine and tender.  What I do not know is if Legacy System will work with the TrainMaster Command operations.  Would anyone know?

Thanks!  Now off to read some posts.
